Red Path Child and Family Agency was established on April 30, 2009 to collaborative with North Carolina Department of Social Services, Commission of Indian Affairs, and the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina. Red Path is committed to taking a conscious and assertive effort to help remedy the influx of American Indian children who have come into custody of DSS agencies and are placed with non- American Indian foster parents.Red Path was the first and only American Indian Child Placment agency in the North Carolina. The focus of Red Path is the placement of American Indian children with American Indian foster parents to help enrich and preserve the Native culture. Red Path is dedicated to the active recruitment and training of American Indian families who have decided to make a difference in a child's life and become a foster parent. As well as to help parents to keep their children in their home by offering in home services.
